Kelly Osbourne Goes (Faux) Gray

Image
Kelly Osbourne recently had heads turning when she stepped out with GRAY hair! Obviously, this is a case of some serious hair dye - but it got me thinking: how much do most people know about real gray hair? For instance, did you know that most Caucasians start developing gray hair in their mid-30s? That gray hair takes longer for other ethnicities - for instance, African-Americans, on average, have until their mid-40s before they start going gray. So, when should we expect Kelly to start going gray - for real? She was born in 1984, so best guess is 2019.  As of right now, there isn't a lot we can do to prevent or delay the onset of gray hair, but that may change in the near future. Cosmetic company L'Oreal announced late last year they are working on a pill to reverse the process of graying hair, but the catch is, it only works after the process has started, so it can't prevent gray hair from appearing altogether. Regardless of how or when it gets rid of gray hair, the pill

Recession Alert: David Beckham

Image
David Beckham might be unmatched on the soccer field, but off the field, it appears he's fighting the same fight as millions of other men - a receding hairline!  In recent photos of the athlete, 36, you can see early signs of temporal recession, which isn't at all uncommon for a man his age. Thirty percent of men in their 30s experience hair loss and the number increases to 40 percent as men enter their 40s. From the photos, it appears that Beckham is Norwood Class II, which means that while his hairline is maturing, typical of an adult hairline, he has yet to see any frontal balding. He is also fortunate to have an otherwise full head of hair. Considering his status on the Hollywood A-list, Beckham might want to consider a proactive hair regimen of FDA-approved Propecia or Rogaine, which could help him avoid any further recession. He would hardly be the first celebrity to take action against hair loss, more celebrities are investing in hair restoration than ever before. New te

Is Mitt Romney's Hair Fake?

Image
At 64, Mitt Romney continues to keep his remarkably full hairline. As most people know, the hair loss risk increases with age, but, specifically, at his age, Romney is defying 50- to 60 percent chance of hair loss. Whether you are a fan of his politics or not, you can't deny he looks good for his age, and can't help but wonder how does he do it?  While his hairline is controlled, consistent and specific - it isn't unnatural, which means his perfect hairline isn't due to a hair transplant. My guess would be he is using a strong conditioner or maybe a light styling product to keep his hair in check during those heated debates. As for his gray hair, it too looks natural, although at times there has appeared to be more gray than others - not uncommon among those in the spotlight. It wouldn't surprise me if Romney, who has been known to cut his own hair at times, is keeping the gray hair in check with a DIY color treatment.  It is certainly possible that Romney is using

Coleen Rooney Displaying Signs of Traction Alopecia

Image
England football star Wayne Rooney publicly shared his hair transplant last year by tweeting photos of his new hairline after the procedure. Now, new pictures indicate that his wife, Coleen Rooney, might also be struggling with hair loss.  From the photos, you can see the 25-year old is sporting what appears to be a bald spot, a telling sign that she is likely suffering from a condition called traction alopecia. Coleen, who is said to be a frequent user of hair extensions, now appears to be dealing with the consequences of the pulling, styling and abuse her follicles have suffered over the years. Traction Alopecia is common among people who wear tight braids, those who use hair extensions over a long period of time, attach wigs or weaves with glue/clips/tape, or those who suffer from trichotillomania (hair-pulling disease), traction alopecia is a result of the chronic tension or pulling on the follicles causing irreparable damage. The definitive cure is hair transplantation which perma

Jennifer Aniston: Extensions Ruined My Hair

Image
Jennifer Aniston caused a stir earlier this year when she chopped her famous golden locks, but a new interview with InStyle magazine reveals there was more to the decision than a simple restyle.  It appears even the Hollywood starlet wasn't immune from the damage that can be caused by extreme hair styling. Aniston's frequent use of hair extensions were taking their toll on her hair, causing it to become "thinned out." She explained her decision to the magazine: "The real reason I cut my hair? My real hair was getting thinned out again from all the extensions. It was starting to look fake." Aniston is hardly the first celebrity to be faced with thinning hair after extensions and extreme styling, but the good news is, the damage is reversible. As long as she doesn't go back to her old habits, her hair should grow back healthy and revived. But, if is she wants to speed up the hair recovery process, as I'm sure she does, she may want to consider a regime
